MAY, 2021

Sunday, May 16 – Backyard Yoga – with instructor or You Tube video at 1 pm at Mallard’s house-6821 Haverhill Drive

Thursday, May 20 at 9 am – Pickle Ball at West Hills courts. Bring a bottle of water, a pickleball racquet and ball, if you have them.  Fay Adams and Becky Herndon are the leaders of this event.

 

Saturday, May 22 – Outdoor Bike Ride. Kathy Scruggs and Donnie Ernst are considering the Alcoa Greenway - about 9 miles. Meeting place is 400 Louisville Road, Alcoa, TN 37701. Meet at 2 pm there with your bike, helmet and water bottle, please!

 

Monday, May 24 – Monthly Book Club at 4 pm at West Hills Park Gazebo. Susan Seaman has a conflict (this month only) and needs to change the date to Monday, May 24. The book discussion will focus on The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson.

 

Friday, May 28 – End of School Movie Night at 7:00 pm          

(Movie starts at 8 pm) Trader Joe's is donating healthy snacks for us to have while we have a musical performance. Several of our neighbors have musical skills and will entertain us while we eat the snacks. The movie - Air Bud, Walt Disney Production, rated PG - 98 minutes long will be shown about 8 pm. Please join us!

All month – Track Mileage for Marathon in a Month. Don't forget to track your mileage and/or minutes of exercise for May. Please submit that as soon as you can after May 31. We had 46 neighbors participating in April and logged 3596.36 miles of physical activity and 7305 minutes of exercise. WOW!! What a great start! Email Anne Crais (annecrais@gmail.com) if you’d like a wellness tracking page for your miles/activities, or keep a tally on your phone, etc. and email Anne your total miles for the month.

June - December, 2021

June (time and location TBD) - WNCA Pool Party - Hot dogs and trimmings with drinks provided, bring a side dish to share. Wear your swimsuit, if you wish to swim -- Children are definitely included!

 

June (TBD) -  Wiffle Ball Tournament - sponsored by the City of Knoxville, if possible

 

Aug. 10 - National Night Out at Jose and Jen Ferdin's house at 408 Hastings Lane; Chick Fil A trays available, please bring a side dish and folding chair. Games and activities for all ages!

 

October 31 - Trick or Treat at Neighbors' houses in West Hills; Feel free to sit by your mailbox area so families can see you are participating!

 

November 18  - Great American Smoke- Out - signs throughout West Hills asking folks not to use tobacco products

December - Holiday Dinner at Bearden Banquet Hall

April 6, 2021, 7:30 p.m. - Take a role in the neighborhood's 4th informal play reading, based on the creation of Fiddler on the Roof!

Thursday, April 15 at 9 am- Pickle Ball – Meet at West Hills Courts with Fay Adams and Becky Herndon leading this activity. Bring a racquet and balls if you have them.

April 17 - Neighborhood Yard Sale - To participate, just attach a ballon to your mailbox the morning of! A large dumpster will also be available at north end of Wesley road.

Sunday, April 18Healthy Recipe of the Month (online).  Check website and Facebook for more information.  Rhea and Geoff Kenney are leaders on this.

Friday, April 23 at 4 pmMonthly Book Club (Fourth Friday at the West Hills Gazebo) Book Title: The Midnight Library: A Novel by Matt Haig. Susan Seaman is the leader. Please be ready to discuss the book. You may want to bring a folding chair to this activity.

Saturday or Sunday, April 24-25Afternoon Outdoor Bike Ride (only one of these dates – weather permitting) Donnie Ernst and Kathy Scruggs will lead this one. We will decide later which greenway trail to follow.

Friday, April 30 from 6-8 pm – Fifth Friday in West Hills Front Yard – bring a folding chair and order food from a Food Truck – Smith’s Dead End BBQ at Donnie’s front yard at 6830 Sheffield Drive

Sunday, May 2 – Facebook Video of Cooking Club and Recipe of the Month

Tuesday, May 11 – Theatrical Activity on Zoom

Saturday, May 15 - time TDB - Neighborhood Dog Walk. Stay tuned for more!

All Wesley Neighborhood events will follow CDC guidelines for COVID-19 safety (social distancing, masks, outdoor activities) for the foreseeable future. Thanks for keeping the neighborhood safe! 

Regular Meeting Schedule
Wesley Neighbors meets on the first Monday of the month on a bi-monthly basis at the West Knoxville Public Library at 100 Golf Club Road.
 
Meetings start at 6:00 p.m. sharp and end by 8 p.m.
 
Meeting months are February, April, June, August, October, and December.
These meetings are open to the public.  
The August, October and December meetings are socials.
